RÜFÜS DU SOL just set a new benchmark for electronic music touring.
The Australian trio’s massive Inhale / Exhale World Tour has officially become the highest-grossing and highest-attended tour by an electronic artist in Billboard Boxscore history, closing out its run with an impressive $158 million in gross revenue and 1.7 million tickets sold.
The 18-month journey stretched from March 2025 through September 2026, taking RÜFÜS DU SOL through arenas, amphitheaters and stadiums across four continents before wrapping its headline run on September 5 in Toronto.
According to Billboard Boxscore figures reported following the tour’s conclusion, Inhale / Exhale became the first electronic tour to surpass both $100 million and $150 million in gross revenue. It was also the first electronic tour to sell more than 1 million tickets, eventually crossing the 1.5 million mark on its way to 1.7 million.
Not bad for three guys who once built their following playing clubs.
RÜFÜS DU SOL More Than Doubles the Previous Benchmark
Before Inhale / Exhale, the electronic touring record belonged to ODESZA’s The Last Goodbye Tour, which grossed $56.3 million and sold 801,000 tickets between 2022 and 2024.
RÜFÜS DU SOL didn’t just edge past that record. Inhale / Exhale finished with nearly three times the gross revenue and more than twice the ticket sales.
The scale of the tour became increasingly apparent as the trio moved into some of North America’s most recognizable venues.
As Pollstar reported when RÜFÜS DU SOL expanded the tour earlier this year, the 2026 leg included venues such as Wrigley Field in Chicago, Fenway Park in Boston, Madison Square Garden in New York, the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, Petco Park in San Diego and Folsom Field in Boulder.
New York ultimately grew to four Madison Square Garden shows, while Los Angeles expanded to five nights at the Kia Forum.
The band’s official tour schedule shows just how extensive the final stretch became, with dates throughout South America, Europe and North America before the September 5 finale at Toronto’s Rogers Centre.
From Clubs to Stadiums
The numbers are especially significant because RÜFÜS DU SOL has built its live identity differently from many of electronic music’s biggest touring names.
Rather than centering its live show around a traditional DJ setup, the Grammy-winning trio of Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt has developed a full live electronic performance that blends vocals, instrumentation and electronic production.
That format has steadily moved into larger spaces, and Inhale / Exhale pushed the group firmly into stadium territory.
The tour supported RÜFÜS DU SOL’s fifth studio album, Inhale / Exhale, and its success also continued the group’s rapid growth at the box office. Before the latest North American run was completed, Pollstar had already reported that 35 reported Inhale / Exhale dates in 2025 sold nearly 600,000 tickets, with an average gross of approximately $1.2 million per night.
The final numbers took things much further.
RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Inhale / Exhale World Tour now sits at $158 million and 1.7 million tickets sold, establishing a new Boxscore ceiling for an electronic act.
Electronic music has spent decades growing from clubs and warehouses into festival main stages. Now, one of its biggest live acts is filling some of the same stadiums traditionally associated with the world’s biggest pop and rock tours.
And with a record like this, that ceiling suddenly looks a whole lot higher.
