Ben Nicky has officially released his take on Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston’s ‘Quicksand (Don’t Go).’ The remix arrives today, August 27, via Anjunabeats.
Nicky takes the emotional trance favorite and pushes it toward a much harder sound. The result is fast, powerful, and built with the dancefloor in mind.
Ben Nicky Brings a New Energy to ‘Quicksand’
The original ‘Quicksand (Don’t Go)’ appeared on Above & Beyond’s Bigger Than All Of Us. The track quickly became a favorite with fans. It also featured the longtime Above & Beyond collaborator Zoë Johnston.
For his remix, Nicky keeps the heart of the track intact. However, he completely changes the energy around it.
The vocals still provide the emotional center. Meanwhile, rapid drums and a relentless trance drive give the remix a much bigger impact.
The production builds toward explosive drops. It also gives the track a stronger peak-time feel.
A New Chapter for a Fan Favorite
‘Quicksand (Don’t Go)’ has already had an impressive journey. Above & Beyond first debuted the track at their Group Therapy 600 milestone show in Mexico City. It later became part of their 175,000-ticket global album tour.
Now, Nicky gives the track another life.
His version leans into the harder side of trance without losing the emotion that made the original stand out. As a result, the remix feels equally suited to a festival peak or a high-energy club set.
The wider Quicksand (Don’t Go) [The Remixes] package will follow on September 3. It will feature additional versions from Sultan + Shepard, Mark Sherry, and Ciaran McAuley.
For now, Ben Nicky’s remix is out today via Anjunabeats, giving one of Above & Beyond’s recent favorites a fresh dose of high-octane trance.
