RÜFÜS DU SOL plans to step away from touring after completing its current world tour, shifting their focus toward writing new music before returning to the stage.
The Australian trio shared the news with fans during a recent live performance, confirming that the current run of shows will mark the end of the Inhale / Exhale touring cycle. Rather than immediately announcing another tour, the group intends to return to the studio to begin work on its next chapter.
The decision closes one of the most successful touring periods of the band’s career. Since releasing Inhale / Exhale in October 2024, RÜFÜS DU SOL has headlined arenas and amphitheatres across North America, Europe, Australia, and South America. The tour included multiple sold-out nights at Madison Square Garden and Kia Forum, while also making history with the band’s headline performance at Chicago’s Wrigley Field. This was the first electronic act to headline the iconic venue.
Choosing the Studio Over the Road
The announcement reflects a philosophy the trio has embraced in recent years. While promoting Inhale / Exhale, the members spoke openly about creating a healthier balance between touring and making music. After years of nearly constant travel, they have increasingly prioritized dedicated writing sessions and longer creative breaks between album cycles.
That approach has become part of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s creative process. Each studio album has introduced a noticeable evolution in the group’s sound, with the band often spending extended periods away from touring before returning with new material.
Although the trio has not announced a timeline for its next release, the decision to pause touring signals that writing has become the immediate priority. For fans, it likely means fewer opportunities to see RÜFÜS DU SOL perform live in the near future. At the same time, it offers the clearest indication yet that the follow-up to Inhale / Exhale is now underway.
Rather than extending another world tour, the group appears ready to close one chapter and begin another. If history is any indication, the time away from the stage may ultimately shape the next evolution of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s sound.
