Timmy Trumpet has confirmed he is working on a new album featuring four collaborations with John Martin after accidentally revealing the project during a live interview at Tomorrowland.
Speaking with One World Radio ahead of his Freedom Stage closing set, the Australian DJ praised Martin as “one of the most iconic voices in dance music” before revealing they had recorded four new songs together. The Swedish singer is best known as the voice behind Swedish House Mafia’s anthems ‘Save The World’ and ‘Don’t You Worry Child’.
The announcement appeared to catch Timmy’s team by surprise. After mentioning the album, an off-mic conversation suggested the project had not yet been publicly announced. Despite the interruption, Timmy continued discussing the release and the inspiration behind it.
We have four new tracks coming out. We’re playing them for the first time tonight. They’re emotional records. This has been an emotional period of my life, a period where I’ve had to stick myself in a studio and write music until I can feel good about myself again.
-Timmy Trumpet
Timmy’s comments suggest the project explores a more personal side of his songwriting than fans have heard in recent years. His music has become synonymous with high-energy festival performances, but he described the new material as the product of spending long periods in the studio writing until he felt like himself again.
During his set, Timmy delivered on his promise. He welcomed John Martin to the stage and debuted the new material in front of the Tomorrowland crowd before performing their recent collaboration ‘All My Life’ alongside ‘Don’t You Worry Child.’
The collaboration continues a creative partnership between the pair that began with ‘All My Life.’ Martin’s soaring vocals have helped define some of dance music’s biggest records over the past decade, making his involvement across four songs one of the album’s biggest talking points.
While Timmy Trumpet has yet to reveal the album’s title or release date, the unexpected announcement suggests fans won’t have to wait long before hearing more. Until then, Tomorrowland attendees can say they witnessed both the surprise reveal and the live debut of four unreleased tracks before the rest of the world.
