SOFI TUKKER have finally released ‘Barthelona,’ a track that’s been circulating through their festival sets and DJ shows for months without an official release. The GRAMMY-nominated duo dropped the single on all streaming platforms, closing the loop on what’s become one of their most requested unreleased IDs.

The track leans into the hypnotic groove and playful lyricism that’s become something of a signature for Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern. It’s built for club floors but carries that loose, carefree European-summer feel, with a chorus hook – “Thought I left her in Barthelona” – that’s tongue-in-cheek by design. The timing isn’t an accident either. ‘Barthelona’ lands right as Spain gears up for the World Cup final, giving the track an extra layer of relevance it probably didn’t need but definitely benefits from.

The duo opened up about the track’s origins, and it’s a fairly on-brand story for SOFI TUKKER. “We’ve been sneaking Barthelona in our sets for months and it has consistently created peak moments in all kinds of settings,” they said. “We wrote it in a makeshift studio in a sprinter van on the way from Vegas to Palm Springs, but by virtue of the lyrics it has taken us to Barcelona to shoot the music video and bring it to life. It’s a bit of a cheeky track about going out for a good time, when you don’t know how far it’ll take you… maybe even as far as BarTHelona.“

‘Barthelona’ arrives in the thick of another packed touring stretch for the duo. This summer alone they’ve played John Summit’s Experts Only in Ibiza, Open’er Festival, Garorock, and Electric Love, continuing a run that’s kept them near the top of the list for in-demand live electronic acts. That momentum carries into the fall, when SOFI TUKKER kick off their Animal Talk headline tour across North America.

SOFI TUKKER have built their catalog on blending house and pop sensibilities with Brazilian influences and global club culture, going back to GRAMMY-nominated cuts like ‘Drinkee’ and ‘Treehouse’ through Platinum-certified singles ‘Best Friend’ and ‘Purple Hat.’ Since forming at Brown University, Hawley-Weld and Halpern have played Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Red Rocks, and their Animal Talk platform continues to serve as a launching pad for artists they want to spotlight beyond their own music.
