Opened in 2023, Sphere Las Vegas quickly proved its naysayers wrong. In only a few years, the venue became one of the city’s mainstay landmarks, further drew Vegas tourism and hosted extravagant events and artist residencies. Looking to continue its success, in late 2025, Sphere Entertainment Group consequently penned a deal to construct an identical, second edition of the iconic venue on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Now, in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (which committed an enormous $1.7 billion investment in the project), Sphere released a preview render of the upcoming location. The preview clip shows a faux time-lapse of the upcoming construction process, followed by simulated footage of people walking toward the completed structure.
Expected to open in 2029, the new venue underscores the UAE’s goal of economic diversification by continuing to increase tourism in the region. While no events have been announced for the UAE location (understandable, given the estimated construction time), notable EDM shows at the Las Vegas Sphere included residencies from Anyma and Illenium, as well as the Insomniac x Tomorrowland Unity takeover; it’s likely that the new Sphere will also aim to bring similar caliber performances to the developing region.
