Joris Voorn has announced a new ambient album titled Melatonin, positioning it as Part 2 to last year’s SEROTONIN. The record will be released on March 13 via Spectrum Music, a date that coincides with World Sleep Day, a detail Voorn himself noted as fitting given the album’s title.

In the caption accompanying the Instagram post, Voorn wrote:
“Melatonin, my new ambient album, is done and ready for release. Part 2 to last year’s SEROTONIN…”

He described the project as a collection of downtempo, laid-back, emotive soundscapes he has been developing over the past few years. The March 13 release date, he added, “seems fitting” given that it falls on World Sleep Day, reinforcing the conceptual link between melatonin, sleep, and the album’s ambient direction.

Melatonin follows 2025’s SEROTONIN, which marked a noticeable shift in Voorn’s output. While he remains known for his club-driven productions and DJ sets, SEROTONIN leaned into more reflective and mood-oriented compositions. The pairing of titles suggests a continuation of that concept, moving from stimulation toward rest, from serotonin to melatonin.

With the announcement, Voorn also shared a sneak peek of the first track from the album, titled “Nebula” on Instagram.

Voorn confirmed that he will premiere Melatonin with an intimate performance at ARTIS Planetarium in Amsterdam next month. The immersive dome setting aligns with the album’s atmospheric direction. The event will be filmed and shared on YouTube on release day.

Looking Back at ‘SEROTONIN’

Released in 2025, SEROTONIN introduced a more introspective chapter in Voorn’s catalog. The album resonated with listeners seeking deeper, more immersive listening experiences outside traditional dancefloor contexts.
