Decadence Arizona‘s Phase 2 announcement keeps the festival’s already stacked NYE party further into the world of the bizarre. This year’s theme, “The Portal of Illusions,” will transform Phoenix Raceway into a two night playground of house, techno, bass and everything in between. The eleventh annual edition goes down December 30–31 and will bring a state of the art production for the biggest New Year’s event in the southwest.
Promoted in tandem with Global Dance and hosted by Relentless Beats, Decadence is a contender for being one of the Southwest’s top New Year’s parties. A two-day, all genre encompassing festival curated to send attendees from one year to the next with a bang.
Phase 1 already announced heavies like Zedd, Kaskade, GRiZ (for a midnight NYE countdown set), FISHER, Subtronics and Chase & Status; Phase 2 throws in more than twenty more names to further vary the musical mix. Among the additions are Adventure Club (a Throwback Set), a frenetic Kai Wachi b2b Sullivan King, Svdden Death brings VOYD’s feral energy, and club favorite dance acts like Odd Mob and Ben Sterling will make an appearance. What we end up with is a lineup that reads like a love letter to the most prominent dance subgenres of today.
The by day schedules gives a sense of how the weekend will flow: December 30 leans toward bass-focused and crossover sets like Adventure Club, Meduza, Hayden James, Whethan and Zedd among them, and December 31 stacks the bill for an end-of-year climactic atmosphere with GRiZ’s countdown set, Kaskade, FISHER, Green Velvet and the dub/bass onslaught of Subtronics and VOYD. Festival organizers report that more special performances and activities will be announced in the run-up to the event.
With tickets flying and a lineup that blends mainstream acts with underground intensity, this year’s Decadence seems designed for spectacle as well as purposeful dancefloor interaction. (For full day-to-day artist lineups and ticketing details, see the official lineup page.)
