After an eight-year hiatus, international DJ and producer Chicco Secci has announced his long-awaited return to music with the new single, ‘Running In The Air’. The track was released via Club Control, a sub-label of Sirup Music. With a career spanning over four decades and a significant impact across Italy, Ibiza, and Miami, Chicco Secci is recognised as a true legend of the electronic music world.
Chicco’s new single marks his first official release since ‘African Vanilla’ in 2017, but his legacy goes way back. Chicco Secci’s global influence began in Italy, where his “Megamix” sessions on Radio Deejay revolutionised the country’s club culture, which took him to Ibiza in the mid-1980s, where he became a crucial resident at the legendary KU (now UNVRS).
His sets saw the birth of the Balearic era, helping to establish the island as the global centre for dance music. He carried this spirit to Miami in 1993, playing a major role in developing the city’s house music movement through residencies at popular venues like Amnesia and Mynt.
‘Running In The Air’
Secci’s latest, ‘Running In The Air‘, brings to it a breath of modern Afro-inspired energy while successfully honouring the timeless House sound that has defined his extensive career. The track is built on hypnotic percussion, vocal textures, and a smooth, elegant rhythmic movement.
‘Running In The Air’ is born from a fusion of dark Afro rhythms and soaring vocals, a sound that channels both tension and release. Drawing on my years in Miami’s underground scene and the memories of electric nights in Ibiza, I wanted to evoke that timeless energy on the dancefloor. This track is my way of honoring the journey I have travelled, past, present, and future. I hope listeners feel transported, as if running in the air.
