Tomorrowland is officially heading to Asia, and it’s not just a one-off. The Thai Cabinet has approved a five-year deal to host Tomorrowland Thailand, making it the first full-scale edition of the iconic Belgian festival to ever take place on the continent.

The agreement, confirmed by Nation Thailand, is part of the government’s wider push to boost tourism and is expected to bring in more than one million attendees between 2026 and 2030. That influx of visitors could generate an estimated 21 billion baht (around £483 million) for the Thai economy.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will lead the organisation efforts, working alongside Tomorrowland International (TLI) and its local joint venture, We Are One.World (Thailand) Company Limited. According to TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the festival’s arrival is about more than music : “This event is not just about hosting a concert; it will also generate job opportunities and valuable knowledge transfer, as the event organisers will bring in a large team, working closely with local communities and Thai people.”

While acknowledging some public concerns, including the risk of organisers backing out, Kiatphaibool emphasised the government’s commitment to making the festival a success.

The inaugural edition of Tomorrowland Thailand is scheduled for December 2026 in Chonburi, a coastal province in eastern Thailand known for its beaches and proximity to Bangkok. This follows comments from the country’s Prime Minister in June confirming the festival was “closer to reality,” after rumours earlier in 2024 were dismissed.

This expansion comes as Tomorrowland continues to dominate the global festival scene, recently being crowned No.1 Festival in the World in DJ Mag’s Top 100 Festivals poll.

If all goes according to plan, Asia is about to experience Tomorrowland magic on a scale never seen before.
