The downfall of the Brooklyn Mirage continues, as the New York venue has wiped the next two weeks of programming from its calendar. Multiple August shows have been either canceled or relocated, impacting major performers like Deadmau5, Nora En Pure, and The Chainsmokers, along with brands such as Awakenings, as the venue continues to face serious operational challenges. These issues stem from a failed safety inspection on May 1, which has left the popular music destination in a state of turmoil.

Among the shows affected were two performances by Subtronics on July 31 and August 1. These have been moved to The Great Hall, a different, and considerably smaller, venue under the same company’s management. A two-night, sold-out engagement by The Chainsmokers was also impacted, being reduced to a single performance on August 8 at a different location called Under The K Bridge. The disruptions culminated in the complete cancellation of Deadmau5’s scheduled performance on August 9, leaving fans without an alternative option. Ticketholders were notified of these significant changes through the Dice ticketing platform.

Now Awakenings EXO set for September 20 has been cancelled, all but confirming Brooklyn Mirage is finished for Summer and probably Fall as well.

The venue’s ongoing struggles have led to major changes at the executive level. The CEO, who had recently overseen the $30 million renovation, was reportedly fired. In an effort to address the persistent permitting problems, a non-executive DJ and a hedge fund founder have been brought in to help. The internal chaos is compounded by financial difficulties, and as reported by BKMAG, an anonymous employee claimed the company is “so broke” that some staff members have been waiting for months to receive their back pay. The employee also expressed a grim outlook, speculating that the entire summer season could be a total loss.

The last public communication from the Brooklyn Mirage was on May 20, leaving many fans and industry insiders concerned. The venue still has dozens of high-profile performers scheduled for the remainder of the season, and it is currently unclear if their shows will also be affected by the ongoing safety and financial issues.
