While it is true that the current Dance scene is dominated by genres like Techno, Big Room, and all its derivatives and branches, one space that is often overlooked is that of Midtempo. Give it a chance and you’ll find incredibly powerful tracks from artists such as REZZ, Dillon Francis, and a little cheeky producer going by the name of Vibement.
Vibement
Vibement is no stranger to the scene, having become a crafter of EDM more than ten years ago, yet he hadn’t gone for a particular sound. It wasn’t until recently that he found a style to stick to and call his very own signature sound. And it proved to be the missing piece of the puzzle for him: last year, his unofficial remix of ‘T.O.A.D’ by Barely Alive & Kompany got support from large names, such as Blanke, Crankdat, Vastive, and Heritage.
Actually, the former of them all has kept supporting Vibement’s tracks ever since. Although his audience was built on Drumstep and Dubstep, he says this year he’s innovating, diving into the world of Midtempo. All while further developing his core sound.
‘Resurgence’
In line with its name, the latest track from Vibement, ‘Resurgence’, is the symbolical start of a new chapter in his career. He’s not only refreshing his style and challenging himself to experiment with different ideas, he’s now routed his brain with a professional mentality.
“The Vibement project has always been about the love for music”, he says. “I strive to make music that can make people dance and simply just have a good time! ‘Resurgence’ is about the return to that mindset of making tunes I think sound cool. For so long I was trying to make music like other producers and feel like I was always falling short”.
