[Event Review] John Summit Returned to New York to Throw Down a 5 Hour Set in Brooklyn

From Miami to New York, one of the hottest DJs in the scene right now, John Summit, made his big return to Brooklyn to perform a massive 5-hour set at one of New York’s newest dance music venues, the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The event has been sold out for months and finally took place this past Thursday to kick off the New Year festivities.

The Brooklyn Navy Yard has been a new home to some of the biggest dance music events in the city. The newly designed venue features LED screens that are structured above the venue with a strong bass inducing sound system that runs throughout the venue. The warehouse venue creates the perfect ambiance for a house music event especially for an artist such as John Summit. His sound varied throughout the night between techno and house tracks but he made sure to play all his big hits including his remix of ‘I Remember’, ‘Hungover’, ‘Where You Are’ and even his big unreleased song with Hayla called ‘Shiver’.

Playing a 5 hour set that began at midnight and rode until the early AMs is not an easy task but for his legion of fans that came out to see him, it surely felt like it was not long enough. 2023 was an astronomical year for Summit and to close out the year by performing this massive show in Brooklyn as well as announcing his new residency in Las Vegas’ hottest new club, LIV LV was just the cherry on top. With his upcoming banger ‘Shiver’ probably set to release in the near future, 2024 is shaping out to be another huge year for Summit.
