Have a listen to the beauty of a tune we recently came across.
As December approaches and sights like Christmas and New Year’s come closer and closer to our lives, thoughts of a hot, sunny summer day under the sounds of a gigantic set of speakers slowly drift away. And for that, some tunes can take us back to that cosy little place. Such is the case of the track we’re bringing you today, Joseph Julien‘s single, ‘TOTORO‘.
Meet the man behind the track. A veteran of the industry, Joseph Julien turned to Electronic music over a decade ago, as part of the duo Danzfolk. After releases on labels such as Zerothree, they parted ways and Julien founded his very own imprint, KRE81 RECORDS. The label serves as a means of promoting artistic independence, and being a place that receives artists with open arms.
Having opened for acts such as Somna, Ørjan Nilsen, and Gareth Emery, Progressive House maestro Joseph Julien has been able to show his craft and prove his expertise not only behind closed doors in his studio, but also as a performer in front of large crowds.
“As an artist, my vision is to continuously write music that pushes boundaries“, Julien comments. “Music that embodies my expression, that people can relate to. Creating sonic experiences that resonate deeply with the listener“.
“‘Totoro’ is a reflection of this vision, and I’m excited to share it with the world.”-Joseph Julien
Joseph’s latest single comes to be a Progressive House tune packed with textures, tension, melody, and a tad of darkness. With spices borrowed from genres like Melodic Techno and House, the track brings a special vibe to the table.
Vocals, a raspy bassline, trumpet-like leads that evolve, and a sweet percussive arrangement, all come together in ‘TOTORO’, a piece which presents itself as an ideal late-night-drive tune to enjoy on those empty, dark highways. I’ve got to admit, it also makes you miss summer a tad. But fear not, for it is coming back next season, eventually.
