Kölsch Presents 5th Album, ‘I Talk To Water’

Kölsch is one of Techno‘s long-lasting stars who saw many memorable moments that the genre have defined over the past few decades. The Danish producer, whose real name is Rune Reilly Kölsch, witnessed his first rise to stardom when he released ‘Calabria‘ in 2003, which later became one of Dance music’s most-popular tracks from the early 2000s. Kölsch’s ‘Calabria’ then lead to smash-hit remixes and remakes, particularly ‘Calabria 2007’ by fellow countrymen and electronic music duo Enur and the late reggae vocalist Natasja Saad and ‘Destination Calabria’ by Alex Gaudino with supporting vocals from House music legend Crystal Waters. Fast forward to the year 2023, Kölsch has released his latest and 5th album, I Talk To Water, via German independent electronic music record label Kompakt.

Kölsch Produces Melodic Techno In Its Most Beautiful Form Through I Talk To Water

Kölsch’s I Talk To Water has Melodic Techno in its most beautiful, and intimate form as it navigates the listeners through journeys of emotional power, particularly when it comes to processing grief. In 2003, Kölsch’s father, Patrick Reilly, passed away from brain cancer and according to an article from Word and Sound, memories of his father’s passing and the ongoing spiritual presence allowed Kölsch to reflect and create new music that beautifully combined the past and present.

The making of I Talk To Water by Kölsch came during the producer’s reminiscing through the listening of his father’s recordings as his father was also a musician. Those influences later reflect on the tranquil yet wanderlust-like sounds of the tracks on this album, particularly the title track itself, and which has supporting vocals from Perry Farrell. Aside from the title track, notable tracks to keep an ear out for include ‘Grape‘ (which has the guitar melodies from Kölsch’s father himself), ‘Thoughts‘, ‘Only Get Better‘, and An Amazing.
