BREAKING: Insomniac’s Debut Interstellar Event Cancelled Due to Hurricane Hillary

We come to you with a major bummer on your Friday, as Insomniac’s inaugural Interstellar Experience has been canceled at the last minute. Interstellar Experience was set to debut as a new Insomniac festival catering to melodic techno, and it featured a team-up from the factory 93 house/techno brand, Dreamstate trance brand, and legendary Zamna parties.

Interstellar was set to take place on Saturday and Sunday at the LA Waterfront space that Insomniac has been using more and more lately. However, Hurricane Hillary had other plans. Believe it or not, a hurricane is heading toward California right now. The National Hurricane Center 9am Friday Advisory states that there could be flash flooding and landslides in the Baja California area tonight through Sunday and hurricane conditions are expected in parts of the Baja region. Tropical storm conditions are possible on Sunday in portions of Southern California. The cone does show LA, but by then it is likely to be a tropical storm at best.

Nevertheless, California isn’t used to hurricanes the way that Florida is and it appears that the authorities weren’t willing to take the risk. While the statement is a bit vague, it does appear to be a cancelation. No refund details are provided but a further email will outline next steps.

This is a major bummer for Insomniac and for the melodic techno scene on the West Coast in general. Thanks a lot Hillary!
