UMEK’s debut track on Drumcode sets the party mood for the weekend is sure to get you on the dance floor. The artist, known for not conforming to trends and playing the long game, made his debut on Drumcode two decades after sending Adam Beyer a demo for the label, reinforcing the brick-by-brick mentality to build sustainable artistry in the techno world.
The artist is a genuine trailblazer, instrumental in initiating the electronic music movement in Slovenia, and maintaining a remarkable and influential presence in the international techno scene. Since 2008, he has been leading the renowned 1605 label with great success.
The track is a rhythmic peak-time monster, highlighting Time Warp and Exchange in LA in recent times. It also saw the artist experiment with AI to create the heady vocal line. He shares:
“There’s still a lot of work in the post-production process, but it’s certainly an interesting time when you can make use of these tools.”
