[Event Review] SIDEPIECE’s Kiss N’ Tell – Third Base Tour at Brooklyn Steel

Platinum-certified dance duo SIDEPIECE is brought their third rendition of their Kiss And Tell Tour back to NYC with support from Martin Ikin and Corinne. SIDEPIECE is the brainchild of Dylan Ragland (Party Favor) and Ricky Mears (NITTI). Highly esteemed producers in their own right, Party Favor and NITTI came together in 2019 to form SIDEPIECE, where they united their styles and earned a reputation for sliding between genres on the electronic music spectrum, whilst keeping firm footholds in the bass and trap worlds. The duo specializes in house music, with a focus on groovy basslines and catchy hooks.

Personally not having been back to Brooklyn Steel since 2019, I was not sure what to expect from the venue. The industrial-style space boasts a capacity of 1800, making it the perfect spot for both intimate and high-energy shows and the venue’s state-of-the-art sound system and acoustics ensured that every performance is crisp, clear and immersive. The bars never had long lines, and there were food options provided as well. The inside of the hall featured a second floor terrace like that of Webster Hall, but this venue having the benefit of being in Brooklyn, was far wider. With the show ending quite early (3 am) compared to normal NYC shows; and the age restrictions being 16+, it meant that ravers across the spectrum were able to attend and enjoy. SIDEPIECE played an extended set that delivered on all their hits like Acrobatic, 1,2 Step, Sextacy as well as multiple remixes and IDs yet to be released. They kept the energy fairly consistent and high and you could tell that the crowd was really following along for the ride. It was overall an A+ experience.
