Above & Beyond Release ‘Angry JP8’ And Announce Ode To Tranquility Base

The Brit trio have broken the silence and released a surprise single today, alongside more news.

The GRAMMY-nominated founders of Anjunabeats have been quiet as of late. Well, had, because today they’ve dropped quite the piece of news. Tony, Jono and Paavo have been producing a handful of tracks lately, and we now get to hear some of that new material.

Complementing their two Printworks London shows — among the last the venue will host before its closing — and upcoming gigs in Argentina, Brazil, and more, Above & Beyond are debuting their ‘Tranquility Base EP‘ Series, a collection of new material from them, bowing to their old subalias Tranquility Base, with which they released a series of Trance anthems, such as ‘Oceanic‘, ‘Razorfish‘, and ‘Buzz‘.

The ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 1‘ EP arrives on May 25th, and the lead single, ‘Angry JP8‘, was lifted today.

Angry JP8

The song feels like a modern record fitted with old elements all over and yet still given that modern feel. An electro-edged, bass-heavy, dark-oriented song, with rolling saws all over, and that is certainly fitted for a late night under their staggering live visuals.

The use of drum machine breakdowns, old decimated plucks, and a retro-sounding saw lead, give this song the uniqueness that distinguishes A&B’s sound from everybody else’s. Through time they keep showing why they stand where they stand as of today.
