The Last Of Us TV Show on HBO Features Depeche Mode Track

On January 15th, HBO released the first episode of their newest show The Last Of Us. The series is an adaptation of a very popular video game that came to life almost ten years ago. Even if some fans of the game had doubts about the adaptation, the first episode of the show did very well. In fact, the American review-aggregation website for film and television Rotten Tomatoes gave the show a 96% score.

However, it is not only the production of the first iteration of The Last of Us that gained some attention. As a matter of fact, the end credits of the episode were highlighted by Depeche Mode‘s classic ‘Never Let Me Down Again‘ from the electronic band’s sixth album Music for the Masses. The band announced their return back in October for 2023 with a new album and a new tour. The 1987 song made waves on Twitter as many searched for the record’s name.

The choice of song is likely to have implications for the plot in the next episode, but don’t worry we will not reveal any spoilers here. On top of the Depeche Mode track, the first episode of The Last of Us also featured ‘Tomorrow‘ by Avril Lavigne and ‘White Flag‘ by Dido. Be sure to tune in for the next episode of the show, which will air on HBO next Sunday, January 22nd. You can also watch the first episode on HBO Max in the US and in the UK.
