The prolific techno producer decided to make the scholarship to inspire a new generation of talent. It’s titled “The Richie Hawtin Ph.D. Scholarship in Electronic Music, Cultures and Production.”

Additionally, Hawtin previously received an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Huddersfield, prompting his decision to partner with them. Hawtin intends to help the recipient in their journey through the electronic industry by offering his extensive knowledge; check out some of what the DJ said about the Scholarship:

“My hope is to offer my experience and insight into the many areas of Techno culture which I’ve been involved in over the past thirty years and to assist in a student’s exploration of the past and inner workings of our industry and help them offer new critical analysis from a contemporary perspective.”

Right now, applications are open until February 10, 2023, with the start date for the program. The University of Huddersfield is a top-rated university for musical production and research, so this is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring musical talent.
