Spotify Unveils New Feature for Artist Fundraising & Direct Donations

Although people are staying at home to quarantine, Spotify has seen a decrease in their listenership and engagement. Recently, Spotify has pushed out a new feature called Artist Fundraising Pick.

An artist can select a fundraising destination and add it to their profile. The feature enables artists to raise money to support themselves, their brand, or their crews. Donations can be sent through a link to Cash App, GoFundMe, or PayPal.me.

Spotify has also partnered with verified organizations participating in the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief Project. The music industry has been hit hard by the pandemic and artists have suffered a loss. So Spotify wants to support all the creators through these efforts.

Marshmello is fundraising for MusiCares, and he states:

“So many of us have been affected by the COVID-19 virus, and now more than ever we need to stand together and help each other. MusiCares is helping all working musicians, producers, songwriters, engineers and so many. Let’s all do our part to help those who need it most!”

This is the first time Spotify has created a fundraising feature like this. This is the first version of the Artist Fundraising Pick, and there may be additional updates and changes as time passes. For now, Spotify is attempting to make this new feature available for as many artists as possible in a short time frame.
