The Chainsmokers Set To Executive Produce New TV Series

Executive producers The Chainsmokers –ever heard of that? Now you will as they are set to produce a drama series currently in development on the Freeform Channel.

Titled ‘Demo‘, it follows a musician in their 20s on a journey from her old life to a new life. She leaves behind her struggling indie rock band and her working class family to write pop songs in Los Angeles. It is a coming of age story. Eager to shed her past, she soon discovers that the best songs tell the deepest truths. She must find the strength to tell hers.

This project originates from writer and executive producer Joy Gregory. Alex Pall and Drew Taggart will produce under their Kick the Habit production banner. Kick the Habit’s Adam Alpert is also joining the producing party, as the duo’s manager and CEO of Disruptor Records. Furthermore, Greg Silverman, Paul Shapiro, and Cara Fano of Stampede Ventures will also executive produce.

The formation of Kick the Habit happened last year, with its first project ‘Paris’ paying homage to the group’s hit song. TriStar featured the film.

“Drew and Alex have a deep connection to their fans, not only through their music, but through what they stand for and represent: transcending preconceived limitations, pursuing one’s passion, entrepreneurialism, and a commitment to living an authentic life.” – Dan Marcus, COO

Gregory most recently worked on the CBS drama ‘Madam Secretary’ and is a veteran to the network. She worked on other series like ‘Switched at Birth’, ‘Jericho’, ‘Joan of Arcadia’, and ‘Felicity’. We eagerly await this latest production.

CAA currently reps The Chainsmokers and Kick the Habit. Schachter Entertainment reps Gregory.
