Instagram is Removing the Following Activity Tab This Week

Fresh after launching the new Threads app, Instagram is up for more changes this week. However, this change involves something different. Instagram is officially removing the Following tab. Furthermore, The Verge is reporting the Following tab will be removed as soon as by the end of the week.

For a while now, the Following tab would constantly show the likes, follows, and comments from your friends on other accounts in real-time. Most certainly an interesting feature, also sometimes a rather cringe-worthy one while seeing all the comments/ likes your friends are making (stalk much?).

Although the Following tab will be missed by many, it has also been controversial in the past. Controversy might be expected with a feed that shows the likes and comments of your followers/ who you are following. Speaking with Buzzfeed, Vishal Shah, Instagram’s head of product shared his thoughts regarding the change with the Following tab stating “Simplicity was the driving factor.

Another recent update for Instagram is its Threads app. Threads allow users to directly message close friends seamlessly. It also allows users to set a status. It even has a feature for an Auto Status, which will automatically share “little bits of context on where you are without giving away your coordinates”.

Sure, taking away the Following tab will remove clutter from your feed, but how will users find out about their cheating spouses?
