Amsterdam Dance Event is in full bloom which means it’s time to reveal this year’s results to the always controversial DJ Mag Top 100 DJs. Although the results don’t exactly reflect the skill of the actual DJ, fans from all around the world have submitted their votes for their favorite DJs.

This year’s number 1 spot goes Martin Garrix as he reigns supreme for the third year in a row. There isn’t much other movement in the top 10 other than The Chainsmokers dropping 25 spots to the 31st spot. Calvin Harris‘ lack of touring has finally reflected in his DJ Mag ranking as he drops 25 spots to the 40th spot on the list. Techno fans will be ecstatic to hear that Eric Prydz rose 14 spots to the 20th spot on the list. Our beloved late Avicii moved up 13 spots to the 15th spot. All the hype Swedish House Mafia built this year has paid off as they make their way back into the top 100 at the 63rd spot.

The list has been frowned upon EDM fans for years now. They believe the list doesn’t represent anything other than being a popularity contest which in that case, the list shouldn’t be named “Top 100 DJs”. The list is popularly used as a reference guide in Asia to gauge how much to pay certain DJs upon booking. This in fact has led to many to try to rig the list in the past in order to get a higher payday.
