Mike McFly and Hood Rich – Goldbrick EP
Monday saw the release of Mike McFly‘s Escuadrón EP featuring some of his favorite producers. Never one to sleep on an opportunity, McFly is teaming up with the infamous Hood Rich to release another EP this week. The Goldbrick EP, out on Friday June 29th via Treasure Fingers‘ Psycho Disco! label, showcases the two individual sides of the producers while also showcasing an intricate, unified sound that stands out among the heavily saturated electronic music market.
The EP consists of three tracks, one by Hood Rich, one by Mike McFly, and the title track ‘Goldbrick‘ as a collaborative effort. McFly flexes his signature heavy low end vibe on ‘Steam Rolla’. Accentuated with some strange vocalization and a perfectly arranged breakdown, Mike always delivers a unique musical experience while staying true to his own sound. Hood Rich’s ‘Wingspan’ takes the proverbial high road on this EP focusing more of his creative energy on the highs and mids. But don’t let that detract from your opinion of this track because ‘Wingspan’ will have you out of your seat in an instant with its funky disco vibe. The real gem is the title track, a heavy hitting, vibey collaboration showcasing the best parts of both producers. ‘Goldbrick’ is everything you could want from a dark underground house tune. Psychedelic yet grounded, emotional yet rough and forceful, this is a song you won’t forget anytime soon.
