Wasback & Funkz – Purge
After a bit of a lull in releases, Italian wunderkind Wasback has come back strong in 2018. His latest hit ‘Purge‘ sees him team up with the talented Israeli Funkz for an absolute stormer. Wasback has been busy this year, releasing another monster called ‘Blastoff‘ with Breathe Carolina back in February. He followed that up with the vibey vocal track ‘Rise Again‘ featuring Drew Ryn. Featuring a signature Spinnin’ Records “in your face” drop, ‘Purge’ is a dance floor destroyer candidate.
Kicking off with a bit of an eery uplifting synth, there is no shortage of twang to the intro. It provides a theatrical build-up reminiscent of a marionette pulling the strings. Just under two minutes in, the song kicks to actual playback from the 2013 film it gets it’s title from, “The Purge.” The monologue provides a creepy breather from the heavy-thumping bass line, setting up the next round nicely. After a short turn-around, the listener is hit with another dose of bass to the face. Different from the initial drop, it will keep you hooked and dancing the whole way through.
