Girl: The New Documentary Following The World’s Best Female DJs

After 15 years of hard work, Kandeyce Jorden‘s feature length documentary, Girl, dedicated to some of the most recognizable female DJs will be released in June. A few of the tastemakers who are featured include Sandra Collins, DJ Rap, DJ Irene, Colette and DJ Lady D.

The movie follows Jorden as she explores the electronic music scene when it was first gaining momentum at the beginning of the 21st century. In her interviews, Jorden delves deep into the minds of these women as they do their best to thrive in a business controlled by men.

The foundation of the movie is Jorden’s experience with the legendary Sandra Collins. During filming the two of them fostered a relationship which ended up with Jorden falling backwards into the world of electronic music. She joined Collins at various gigs around the world including Mexico, Burning Man, and culminating in Russia where she was stranded for days after losing her passport at an after party.

Pair that with a soundtrack featuring electronic stalwarts such as the Chemical Brothers, Satoshie Tomie, Colette and The Crystal Method, and the result is a movie that every fan of electronic music would thoroughly appreciate.

Girl is directed by Kandeyce Jorden and produced by David Garonzik and David Veloz. It’s available on Amazon, iTunes, Google Play on June 1, but you can watch the official trailer below.
