Monolink – Amniotic
Monolink released his Amniotic album this past Friday and it’s truly a unique work of art. The Berlin-stationed producer has been making waves with his uplifting brand of techno in recent years, and his new album is something we’ve all needed even if we didn’t know it.
The record is honest and soft-spoken, it’s by no means perfect, but it gives off an energy that most modern electronic music lacks.
Monolink graced fans with the first two singles ahead of the release. ‘Swallow’ and ‘Sirens’ demolished the iTunes Electronic charts in Germany and even earned some New Music Friday Germany spots.
The album starts off with the title track ‘Amniotic’, a slow-rolling and airy ballad that almost seems to pay tribute to ethereal electronic acts like Pretty Lights on the instrumental side, and also prevalent singer songwriters in pop. Tracks like ‘Frozen’ act as an ode to nature’s energies, even seeming to sample some of the elements. ‘Father Ocean’ is a bit more of a techno ballad and ‘Sirens’ is the epic odyssey of a song that we all need. I was lucky enough to catch Monolink live this past weekend at a packed out Coachella Do LaB performance where thousands of old and new fans got to enjoy the record in person.
