Lately, it seems that all news is bad news. After the week we’ve had losing Avicii, it’s nice to finally hear about some feel-good news.

Moby is cleaning house, and it’s all for charity.

The legandary producer is selling over 100 synths and pieces of studio gear from across his career for charity on the online gear store, Reverb. He plans to launch his own store on the site, with all proceeds going to the anti-cruelty charity, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

This is an organization which plans to “dramatically [change] the way doctors treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and cancer,” and “has been working tirelessly for alternatives to the use of animals in medical education and research and advocating for more effective scientific methods,” according to their website. Definitely a great cause to be fighting for.

Among those up for grabs is his Roland Jupiter-6, which he calls his “crown jewel”. It has been used on “almost every techno record I made, from “Go” to “U.H.F.” to “Thousand”, says Moby. Before Moby had the Jupiter-6, rumor had it that Joey Beltram owned the piece of equipment.

“I have so much equipment and almost all of it has profound sentimental value to me, including synthesizers I started using in the 80’s. But rather than keep it all in storage, I want to sell it for a good cause.”

In addition to his crown jewel, the store will stock a 1980s Ibanez guitar. This was primarily used by the muso from 1984 to 1998. Even the Yamaha SY22 vector synth, used to write his first single ‘Go, will hit the market. The Yamaha SY85 synthesizer used to create the distinctive synth sounds on 1995’s, “Feeling So Real“, is another classic item that will be sold as well.

The sale begins on Thursday, April 26th, on
