Kill Nils – 1 2 3 I Love You (feat. Jackie Cruz)
Raised in the suburbs of New Jersey, Kill Nils became inspired to pursue a career in music. He grew up playing several instruments as well as performing in a variety of genres, but nothing stuck stronger to him than the early works of the Beatles. Fast forward a few years later and Svensson was introduced to “Orange Is The New Black” star Jackie Cruz by her boyfriend Fernando Rosas. The two vibed together well and Nils played her a song he was working on which she immediately took a liking to and soon enough they off to the studio in SoHo with producer Paul Couture, recording vocals and finishing up the track.
The gentle guitar strumming accompanied by soft rustic rhythms gracefully sets the mood for the light yet deeply sentimental vocals. ‘1 2 3’ is indeed a love song, but the track has a playful twist in expressing the emotional turns that come with the journey of being in love. As the hook comes around, its simplicity brings in the overall conclusion that love does conquer all.
