Kanye West Parts Ways With Tidal Over Money Dispute

Kanye West

Kanye West is known as one of Rap music’s top greatest artist of all time with past album release College Dropout certifying double platinum and the latest album release, and The Life of Pablo hitting platinum and on it’s way to more. He has recently announced that he will be splitting from Jay-Z’s streaming service, TIDAL, over recent news reported by various sites that Kanye is owed $3 million dollars in unpaid bonuses from a The Life of Pablo exclusivity deal is which he brought in 1.5 million subscribers to the music platform and it is also said that there was also a deal in place that TIDAL would also reimburse Kanye on the music videos produced for the album as well.

To which Tidal has come out and responded basically saying, “Kanye has not delivered said videos and until he does he wont get paid.” which prompted Kanye to deliver a statement of his own stating, “I’ll deliver the videos when I get paid what is owed to me.”

All of this is also coming out fresh after there was some animosity brewing heard in the latest drop from Jay-Z titled ‘4:44’ in which includes a track called, ‘Kill Jay Z’ that contained lyrics interpreted by most as Jay-Z throwing shade at Kanye West, in which the lyrics said;

“You got high on the life, that shit drugged you
You walkin’ around like you invincible
You dropped outta school, you lost your principles
I know people backstab you, I felt bad too
But this ‘fuck everybody’ attitude ain’t natural
But you ain’t a saint, this ain’t kumbaye

But you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye
You gave him 20 million without blinkin’
He gave you 20 minutes on stage, fuck was he thinkin’?
“Fuck wrong with everybody?” is what you sayin’
But if everybody’s crazy, you’re the one that’s insane”

Referring to the news that Kanye went on a twenty minute rant at one of the shows during his “Saint Pablo” tour in which he went in detail about how Jay Z has not brought his kids over to play with Kanye’s, news that he was hurt over the fact that Beyonce had said that she would not be willing to perform at the music video awards if she did not win music video award of the year over Drake and Kanye.

While Kanye has expressed that because of this dispute he is no longer interested in exclusivity deals on his music, to any music streaming services, etc.

Some more info reported by TMZ, states Tidal has issued a letter to him explaining that as far as they were concerned they still had an exclusive contract with the rapper and if he were to go to any other music streaming service he would be facing a lawsuit to which Kanye responded for Tidal to bring it on as he also planned to sue back if such lawsuit were to manufacture.

So meanwhile this issue is nowhere far from done as more details are coming out day by day and the animosity between Jay Z, Tidal and Kanye worsens, we can only hope they work this out amicably and that relationships are not tarnished as it would be a shame to miss out on any more future collaborations.

On the upside, expect Kanye’s next release to be on as many music streaming sites as possible.
