Zhu – Intoxicate

Zhu has had a busy past few months with his remix of Migos‘ “Bad & Boujee,” production of “Night Crawler,” and his curation of a bold music video that sends an underlying dark message to the industry. If you haven’t watched the music video, it features a funeral procession with a “BlackLizt” of familiar names from the realm of the mainstream EDM industry such as Marshmello, Zedd, and The Chainsmokers; to name a few.

The figurative “Blacklizt” has now transgressed into the real life with the announcement of a secret NYC warehouse show under the same moniker. Zhu continues to execute his mastering of showmanship through the release of his new track “Intoxicate.”

The cryptic track makes use of something I can only describe of as a “creepy crawler” beat in the intro. Zhu’s signature smooth vocals almost sound haunting as they are paired with the heavy synths and echoing guitar riffs. The track is a “Stranger Things” meets the “Haunted Mansion” mashup of dark elements. The track delivers a cryptic vibe and a sensual allure that is symbolic to Zhu’s artistic and performative style. The song is overall an incredibly powerful piece of work.

You can now purchase general admission tickets to Zhu’s “Blacklizt” warehouse party here. You can listen to “Intoxicate” below.
