If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you know that any kind of foreshadowed information regarding the highly anticipated 7th season is precious. Well, spoiler alert! Show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss dropped the news that Ed Sheeran is set to guest star in the upcoming season. They let the reveal slip at a panel dedicated to the series during the 2017 South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas yesterday.

Ed Sheeran is easily one of the most talented musicians out there. His emotionally driven pop tracks have stolen the hearts of millions, including a large handful of DJ’s and producers who have assisted in blurring the lines of his fan base into the dance world. Now, he enters a realm with seven kingdoms.

Like many of us, Maisie Williams, known on GOT as Arya Stark, is also a fan of Ed Sheeran. “For years we were trying to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie and this year we finally did it,” David Benioff said. Ed is one of many musicians to have a cameo on the television series, following DJ Kristian “Hodor” Nairn, members of Sigur Rós, Of Monsters and Men, Natalia Tena from Molotov Jukebox, Mastodon, Will Champion of Coldplay, and several others. Information regarding his cameo still remains a mystery. All we know is that winter is coming, and it’s bringing Ed Sheeran with it.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on July 16, 2017.
