Outlets Decry Lack of A-List DJs at Americana Themed Inaugural Ball

This election season has been particularly hard on a subset of the country, so you can understand why it might feel good to take any sliver of opportunity to throw shade at the winners. Today we heard from several outlets about how Donald Trump‘s inaugural ball was completely devoid of any major musical talent, and how it was “hot garbage”. We heard about how it featured an 80’s cover band, DJ Freedom, and The Star Spangled Singers. Clearly we were not impressed to say the least. Many laughs were had by the disgruntled, however a quick look at facts shows this entire narrative to be a complete lie a bit disingenuous.

The All American Ball is actually an Americana-themed inaugural ball (not exactly hiding the theme), and is in no way Donald Trump’s official ball. In fact, it is the Republican Party of Virginia’s ball and has taken place numerous times before including during Obama’s 2nd Inaugural in 2013. This particular ball carries a traditional patriotic theme as you might expect from Virginia’s Republican Party. During the course of a Presidential Inauguration numerous groups put together a myriad of their own celebrations, and unsurprisingly the Republican Party of Virginia probably didn’t have the $100,000+ lying around to book The Chainsmokers. Those outlets laughing at and insulting the All American Ball for its lack of A-list musical talent are probably still stuck in the anger stage of grief, so give them time.

Of course that’s not to say President-Elect Trump’s official ball will boast the kind of A-list DJ talent an EDM fan is looking for. Trump has said that wants a relatively spartan affair so he can focus on getting to the work of the Presidency, and he didn’t exactly need their support to begin with. Perhaps he can finally use Hillary’s $7 million firework collection that he offered to buy from her for 5 cents on the dollar after she lost.
