Fomer Pacha Owner Eddie Dean Trying To Buy Verboten

Jen Schiffer & John Perez, co-owners of bankrupt Williamsburg hot spot Verboten are auctioning off the lease to the infamous nightclub to help pay off some of the club’s numerous debts. According to the Gothamist, former Pacha NYC owner Eddie Dean is the current highest bidder for the club. The bid by Eddie Dean is said to be around $400,000 for the lease of the Williamsburg club.

This past March, Verboten was taken by the New York State Department of Taxation & Finance for the nonpayment of around $360,000 in taxes. The co-owners of the club filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy the following day to take back the club, but the bad news continued as Jen Schiffer was arrested just a few days later for allegedly passing bad checks. She denied the allegations and instead accused two managers of the club to be at fault, saying they stole a check book and made the fraudulent checks without her acknowledgement.

Verboten also has had many other offers from potential buyers, with one offer being higher than Dean’s $400,000, however the landlord has to agree on some modifications to the lease before any offer can go through.

Will former Pacha owner Eddie Dean bring his own version of Pacha to Williamsburg? Will he keep the underground identity of Brooklyn nightlife intact? Or will there be another owner to take over and possibly turn it into a condominium building? Only time will tell, stay tuned with us for updates.
