EDM Dominates Triple J’s Hottest 100 Of 2015

Over the last half-decade, dance music has progressively infused itself more and more into the popular mainstream. Since then, we’ve seen countless artists breach airwaves and cable television in a monumental way. Since 1988, Triple J has witnessed more electronic music slide into the Hottest 100 in the recently published 2015 edition than ever before. More than 2 million votes were casted, with voters actively represented by 172 countries, the list narrowed consideration for over 16,000 tracks down to an inclusive, summarizing, final top 100.

Unsurprisingly, Major Lazer led 2015 EDM movement. Not only did the trio peak 3 tracks on the Hottest 100, but their single “Lean On” came in at No. 3 overall, highest of the electronic music genre. Disclosure landed twice on the list, and their collaboration with Lorde cracked the top-10. Other noteworthy electronic appearances on the chart included Ocean Drive by Duke Dumont (No. 13), “Middle” by DJ Snake (No. 17), “Some Minds by Flume (No. 24), “Puppet Theatre by Claptone (No 41) and “Go” by The Chemical Brothers (No. 46). The list also features tracks from Jai Wolf, What So Not, Jamie XX, ZHU and many more. Check out the full list here and be sure to share your thoughts on Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2015 list with us!
