Abshiva – Oryx (William Vance Remix)
Taking a journey to a darker but more graceful side of dance music, we have the remix pack for Abshiva’s Oryx EP, out now on Solstice Records. In total the pack provides 4 remixes, 3 for the title track “Oryx,” and one for “Gettin’ Hotter.” The track we’re taking a look at in particular, is from EDMTunes‘ own: Will Vance. Originally a peculiar cross of acid and disco, “Oryx” was dominated by unintelligible vocals and a naked bassline, giving it an interesting charm, but this remix takes it one step further and really fleshes out the concept. The vocals are given a more fluid feel, rolling in time with the deep synths and stuffed bass; details prevail here as well, with occasional chimes, springs, and insane risers all coming together to build peak tension before unleashing a smooth wash of emotive melody.
