CHVRCHES – Leave A Trace
After announcing their sophomore album Every Open Eye earlier this week, CHVRCHES gave us ‘Leave A Trace,’ the first single and the first sign they’re not leaving their signature synthpop sound. In an interview with ALT 98.7, the lead singer of the Scottish trio, Lauren Mayberry, talked about making an album that can feel “emotional…and can feel epic at times, can feel raw at other times.” And with ‘Trace,’ you can definitely follow the minimal verses before entering their assertive side in the choruses. When talking with Pitchfork, Mayberry was inspired to make ‘Trace‘ from how she felt about her ex’s, and how “there’s no point having this conversation anyways: There will be no resolve, I won’t feel better about it, you won’t feel better about it, no outcome from this will actually change my reality.”
Every Open Eye is set to be released September 25th. For now, listen to their first single ‘Leave A Trace,’ and catch them at various festivals starting this month.
