Mr. Carmack- All In, with Kehlani
Mr. Carmack is a legend. He seems to be a producer who couldn’t choose between quality or quantity and decided on both. The Hawaiian based artist has a remarkably extensive musical catalogue, having dropped numerous albums and EP’s while twice reaching the #1 spot on Bandcamp. With such an impressive career, Mr. Carmack was the perfect candidate to take part in Adidas’ new series, Songs from Scratch. This project looked to outline the details of a collaborative effort between two passionate artists. Electronic artists have been well represented, with notable releases from Chet Faker x Goldlink, Jeremih x Shlohmo and Tory Lanez x Snakehips.
Songs from Scratch takes us through Mr. Carmack’s journey in creating ‘All In‘ with the talented singer Kehlani. The episode provides a unique perspective into his mental process, showing how his recent relationship problems permeate onto this soulful and emotional track. This gives the track a genuine feel, as its relaxing pace and delicate energy suggest its immense passion. The irresistibly smooth cello heard towards the end is also explained, which was delivered by a classically trained cellist within 30 minutes of Mr. Carmack’s request.
