M83 Collabs with MAIM for Upcoming Movie “Insurgent”

When thinking about cinematic soundtracks and artful compositions, electronic producers aren’t necessarily the first ones to come to mind. But more and more, we’re seeing big-named electronic musicians credited for the beautiful soundtracks backdropping top box office movies, such as M83 in the upcoming movie Insurgent. As part of the huge Divergent movie series, Insurgent will debut on March 20, but music and film lovers alike are getting a trailer-sized glimpse of the movie through the song ‘Holes in the Sky’, a stunning collaboration between Anthony Gonzalez of French electronic band M83 and American pop rock group HAIM.

Not stretching too far from his norm, M83 delivers a quintessentially climactic piece with a heavy orchestral influence that augments the drama from great song to movie score worthy. A rightful pairing, HAIM’s profound vocals melt into the foundation of M83’s melody as if they were always meant to be. In an exclusive interview with MTV, HAIM said,“We had the best time in the studio with [M83], it all happened so fast and was so easy and natural. We are so excited to be a part of this movie.”

Only a few more weeks until we can hear and see the production in its full scale, and until then, enjoy “Holes in the Sky” below.
