deadmau5, Zeds Dead And More Have Nominated For Prestigious Canadian Music Awards

deadmau5,

EH! It’s that time of year again folks. Canada’s annual Juno Awards (Canada’s version of the Grammys) nominations have been released and there is a considerable number of electronic/dance music artists on the list.

Deadmau5 is in the running for one of the night’s most important awards, Artist of the Year, against veterans Leonard Cohen, Sarah McLauchlan and Bryan Adams. Zimmerman’s While (1<2) will also be squaring off against fellow Canadain producers Ryan Hemsworth, Richie Hawtin and Caribou for Electronic Album Of The Year. The bass will rumble as Montreal’s Adventure Club battles Toronto’s Zeds Dead for the Breakthrough Group Of The Year Award. Adventure Club is also nominated for Dance Recording Of The Year for Calling All Heroes alongside Chromeo‘s White Women and Trevor Guthrie‘s collaboration with R3hab, “Soundwave”, while Zeds Dead has also been nominated for Video Of The Year for “Lost You”. Chromeo is in the running for Group Of The Year alongside nominations from Mother Mother and Nickleback…and if they lose to Nickleback, rest assured that my Canadian pride will most certainly be taking a hit. Other dance music acts that have received nods are Kiesza, who has a whopping total of 4 nominations and will also be performing at the show, Glenn Morrison and USS.

A full list of the nominations is available here and be sure to tune in to the 2015 Juno Awards live on CTV on March 15.
