Re-Visit DJ Snake’s Versatile ‘You Know You Like It” Remix with New Music Video

DJ Snake

After a huge 2014, DJ Snake is closing out the year with a bang. The French phenom just released his music video for his single with AlunaGeorge, “You Know You like It.” The video has to follow in the enormous footsteps of DJ Snake’s “Turn Down for What” music video, which was nominated for MTV Video Music Awards for Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects and the MTV Clubland Award. The track gave DJ Snake a reputation as a producer of up-tempo, heart racing trap music. This reputation was only solidified with his 2014 collaboration with Dillon Francis, “Get Low.” However, this is not a reputation DJ Snake wants to be pigeonholed into. When discussing “You Know You Like It,” DJ Snake said, “I thought it was a good idea to release the song officially to give my fans and everyone who knows me from ‘Turn Down for What’ and ‘Get Low’ a different side of my style and vision for music.” “You Know You Like It” shows DJ Snake’s versatility as a producer, and his comfort in producing trap music that strays from the festival formula that made him so popular. Just as he showcased in his remix of “Club Goin’ Up On A Tuesday,” DJ Snake is out to prove his talent across a wider variety of music.

The music video for “You Know You Like It” highlights DJ Snake’s desire to go in a different direction from his previous hits. The video depicts an ape living a normal life in a world of humans. The ape sees his life unravel due to his tortured history with a girl. He turns to drugs and strip clubs to cope, even contemplating committing acts of violence. The video is a dark take on the single, with serious implications about the dangerous consequences of destructive relationships. The tone of the video is in sharp contrast to the fun, entertaining videos for “Turn Down for What” and “Get Low.” Be sure to check out the video below and you can even purchase your own copy of “You Know You Like It” on Beatport.
