deadmau5 Lashes Out at EDM Compilation: “how the f*ck did i end up on this pile o shit?”


Universal Music Group has further commercialized the dance music industry with its April release of Now That’s What I Call EDM 2014. As expected, this album is full of mainstream crowd-pleasers, featuring popular tracks such as The Chainsmokers’ “#SELFIE” and Martin Garrix’s “Animals” and has now even attracted the rage of Deadmau5. Known for his blunt comments, the mau5 calls Universal’s album a “pile o shit” and has turned to Twitter with:


Joel is right to be upset with his inclusion here. This compilation can do nothing but harm the already delicate reputation that “EDM” is fiercely driving towards with regards to mainstream propagation. For those interested, here is the entire track listing:
