Eric Prydz Awarded With BBC Radio’s Essential Mix Of The Year

Eric Prydz

2013 was a huge year for legendary Swedish producer Eric Prydz. It was a year in which he earned his second Grammy Nomination for the M83 ‘Midnight City’ remix, appeared at every big-name festival, launched a new Las Vegas residency, and brought EPIC to the States. One can think of no better way to cap it all off than by claiming the coveted distinction of Essential Mix of the Year.

For those unable to attend, you can still enjoy the #1 Essential Mix of 2013 wherever you are, below.

More than 65 DJs shared a Radio One Essential Mix this year, and Prydz beat out a short-list of some incredibly talented artists including Disclosure, Mat Zo, Maya Jane Coles, Alix Perez, Todd Edwards and Dixon to claim the top spot. The honor is voted on by an all-star Radio One panel that includes legendary Essential Mix host Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Toddla T, Danny Howard and an Essential Mix superfan.

Yet, there could be only one winner and no one was more deserving than Prydz. His celebrated mix featured tracks from all three aliases – Eric Prydz, Pryda and Cirez D – and included a variety of styles and unreleased tracks, creating 2 hours of pure auditory bliss. He’ll be capping off his incredible year with a performance at Echostage in Washington, DC on New Year’s Eve.
