Although he was just crowned the first spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ list for 2013, there’s no slowing down for Hardwell. In an interesting twist, his latest release is somewhat different from most of what likely propelled the producer to the #1 position. Titled “Dare You”, his newest single is a polished work in which carefully-selected, upbeat melodies, rather than thundering electro synths or heavy beats, dominate the track. Over the top come amazing vocals from Matthew Koma, who’s distinctive voice has been heard previously on Alesso’s “Years” and Zedd’s “Spectrum”. Could this track signal a slight change in direction for the beloved electro-house producer? Â We’ll have to wait to see, but in the meantime, we can enjoy a club-ready piece of phonic euphoria that will certainly appear in many upcoming sets.
