Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” Skyrockets Past 1 Million Sales and Holds the U.K. #1 Spot

Avicii
Swedish DJ/Producer Avicii has been in the news a lot lately. We first heard Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” at Ultra Music Festival 2013.  At first, it was unclear what people thought of the track due to the folk and country sounds. Now it seems to be one of the most popular current tracks.

Avicii protected his spot at the top of the U.K. singles chart by passing the half-million sales barrier. It seems that the opening sales of  “Wake Me Up” were year-best. Avicii’s track had sales the opening week of approximately 267,000, an additional 154,000 week two sales, and another 124,000 sales the week after that. All in all, a final sum of 545,000.  Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” went ahead of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and Cedric Gervais’ remix of “Summertime Sadness” to name a few.
