The upcoming album from Verve Records, “Verve Remixed: The First Ladies” is a collection of songs from legendary female vocalists, all of which have been remixed by present day artists. Perhaps the most noteworthy of the tracks on this unique release is Kaskade’s take on the ethereal “Fly Me To The Moon” by Astrud Gilberto. Working with powerful yet dreamy female vocals is nothing new to Kaskade, and he once more delivers a great remix of a historic song. As he has done many times in the past, Kaskade has chosen to forego the classic build up into drop formula for this track. Instead, he masterfully blends Astrud’s hypnotic lyrics with his standard eerie, atmospheric, yet uplifting combination of synthesizers. This type of remix shows exactly what a true master of electronic production can do to almost any genre of music. Check it out, along with the rest of this album of remixes when it comes out on next month. With names like Bassnectar, Zeds Dead, and Maya Jane Coles adding their touches to other classic songs, the rest of the album will most definitely be just as good.
