Paris Hilton’s Upcoming “House” Album to be Produced by Afrojack

An Afrojack and Paris Hilton

And let it be known in the chronicles of music history that on this day, the EDM Gods wept. Or is it perhaps all apart of a bigger plan? It has recently been announced that the much respected Dutch House Producer, Afrojack has decided to work alongside his ex-girlfriend, (not really sure what she’s famous for) Paris Hilton to produce her upcoming second studio album. Not much is known about the album at this time, lacking a title or release date but it is said to have several featured artists, one being the popular hip-hop artist Lil’ Wayne and that it is “going to be house music” (yes I know, I don’t know if Paris Hilton knows what house music means either). Afrojack has recently been receiving a bit of negative criticism for transitioning into the dreaded dark side of mainstream music working with the likes of Pitbull and the controversial Chris Brown in the past. It’s safe to say this move definitely isn’t helping his EDM-scene cred, especially after most of us have probably seen Paris’s atrocious “DJ set” that she preformed in Ibiza last spring, Afrojack himself even dissing the young starlet say the set was prerecorded (if you’re mad at your ears, you can have a listen below)! While this is far from pleasant news I think the electronic music community should hold off on lighting their torches and sharpening their pitchforks for at least a little bit longer. Could this be a move by Afrojack to separate himself from other producers that have gone down the road of pop music (such as David Geutta and Calvin Harris) by taking an act that virtually no one likes or plans to like and making  into something that’s actually really enjoyable to listen to? This definitely won’t be an easy feat, as I personally don’t think all the producers in the world can find a way to make Paris Hilton positively marketable, but only time will tell and I think we can all agree it’ll prove Afrojack to be one legendary producer if he pulls it off. But that’s one big if…..
