The festival has a known history of taking hiatuses and restarts. It traces back to its initial debut being pushed back to 2016 from 2015. Consecutive editions in 2017 and 2018 were witnessed followed by a break till 2020. Returning in March 2020 just in time prior to the COVID shutdown, it returned again in 2022. The conclusion of this year’s edition saw another break.

We are working hard to keep OMF close to its original roots in a big way and reignite the sparks. Those formative years were special to all of us. Hang tight and remember to always. Be, Here, Now.

Rechulski, founder of Soundslinger that started the festival in 2016

The intent, as per the organizers, to bring the festival back strong and better. It also includes replicating the early editions as a multi-genre lineup. The recent editions have taken a EDM inclination and partnered with Insomniac Events in 2020. It is held in the Sunshine Grove property which sprawls across 800 acres.

More updates regarding the next return could be traced here.

The past weekend the EDM community surfaced on Twitter and reddit to beg the state of Florida, authorities and Okeechobee organizers for news on the death. According to the Okeechobee county Sheriff’s office investigators are looking into an “apparent drowning” that they say took place between late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Nguyen’s family and friends frantically tried to receive information on the speculated events on the weekend from Insomniac events. Their plea was finally answered today. The Okeechobee organizers took to social media to release a statement.

Out of respect to those affected by this tragedy, we have refrained from commenting prematurely. We will continue to provide our full support to the authorities, who are determining the cause.

The post Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival Drops 2023 Lineup, Featuring Odesza, GRiZ, Excision, and More appeared first on EDMTunes.

Music and Lineup

Okeechobee Music + Arts Festival had a total of 3 stages inside the festival, and 3 located in the campgrounds. Each stage held artist performances, all coming from different musical backgrounds. From Megan Thee Stallion and Tame Impala, to Porter Robinson, Rezz, and Griz, it was definitely one diverse lineup (although I do think there could have been more additions of artists in hip-hop).

Honestly, this year’s lineup was a great one. But I certainly wouldn’t say it was the best the event has ever had. Although acts such as Megan Thee Stallion and Porter Robinson headlined the event, it did feel as if the party didn’t actually start until the late hours of the night. Often, during the day, attendees would just sit on blankets and inflatable couches, chilling out and waiting around. There just wasn’t as much anticipation.

However, we do have to applaud the last-minute additions added to the concert roster, such as Deathpact and Earthgang. These performers gave a little more life to the lineup. Overall, the performances were nice and enjoyable, but we would like to see some more talented support added to the roster, to help shift the full attention undeniably placed on the festival headliners.

Activities

One of the greatest components of this music festival would certainly have to be the activities. I say this because there were many being offered on the grounds. Frankly, attendees could have spent an entire day at the music festival just doing the activities alone. Even then, they still wouldn’t have done everything this event had to offer.

For those who used this trip as a way to get away and relax with the sounds of the wind whistling through the trees, many took their moments of tranquility even further by participating in Yogachobee. Throughout the day, the festival held various yoga workshops to help attendees ease their sore aching muscles while unwinding from the stresses of their daily life.

Not the kind of mental relaxer you’re looking for? Maybe you want to do something that creates a similar result but without the exercise? Okeechobee Music + Arts Festival held a series of mental health organization tents that did more than just preach. Instead, they put the art of self-care into practice. From burning your demons with paper, pen, and a grill, to painting on printed murals, attendees could make small steps to a better headspace with these small activities. As a plus, participants received free chocolate to enjoy during their time at the event. Obviously, you can never go wrong with some much-needed self-care and free chocolate.

Apart from relaxation, Okeechobee also had its own marketplace, a place where attendees can shop until they drop. From uniquely designed sunglasses and kandi to bright-colored pashminas, shoppers were sure to find something extraordinary. However, the establishments were often crowded, making it almost impossible to see what each store had to offer. Nevertheless, this marketplace was a great space to check out during your time there.

Finally, one simple activity worth pointing out that was often found in various parts of the event was wishing areas. Here, show-goers were able to gather around and wish for the things they truly desire in life. In one area, once a wish was solidified on paper, it was then tied around a small tree to hang there. This was quite a cute and fun concept, one which brought a lot of smiles to attendees’ faces.

There was much more stuff to do at the music festival, but there is way too many for me to unpack. Therefore, if you want to know just what else attendees can do at the festival, you may just have to go next year to find out.

The Campgrounds

One of the main characteristics that make this festival different from the rest would have to be its camping flexibility. For instance, although you may not choose to camp at the event, you can still bring some camping gear for the day, enjoy the outdoors, and then pick up and leave once you’re done. With the purchase of a Car Camping Pass, required by all those parking their car at the event, you are provided with your own campsite, even if it is just to stay there for a few hours.

Each attendee was given enough space to set up camp and take shelter. If they wanted to leave in the middle of the day or night, they could do so freely, as enough space to leave was provided. With the help of traffic organizers, no one was stuck in their campsites. If they wanted to escape the grounds for a bit, they can do so willingly.

Something very impressive about the camping would have to be the community that was created during the weekend. When entering the grounds, one of the first things you notice is how well people get along with each other. Just a few steps into the campsite and you see groups of people gathered together, talking, and having fun. You also see people riding their bikes and skateboards along the concrete roads. It truly felt like a huge community uniting once again, as everyone seemed to cohesively get along with each other. It was definitely one of the most impressive camping experiences I had ever seen.

The People

For this one, we decided to call out the people who attended the event. I believe they were one of the reasons why this festival had such a great turn-out this year. As many of us probably know, some events can quickly spiral when those attending aren’t the most pleasing to be around. However, this festival is one of the few that showcased the positive influence being around the right people can be.

Festival-goers were always eager to spark a conversation with you, whether it was in the campgrounds or in the middle of the main stage crowd. Community and unity truly played a big role at this event. People would constantly share camping gear, beverages, food, and much more. Nobody was looking at each other with death stares or giving off the subtle eye roll. Instead, attendees would give you a smile, maybe even crack a few jokes while you’re waiting to use the bathroom.

A great community always creates a wonderful experience, and that was one of the big pluses of this event. Whether you go alone or go in a big group, you are sure to find some new friends during your time there.

Ticket Re-Entry and Checkpoints

For many EDM veterans, the concept of no re-entry and a one-ticket swipe is common in the festival scene. However, as unbelievable as it sounds, this festival granted re-entry to not just campers, but those staying outside of the grounds. If you mistakingly left your water pack inside your car, you actually had the choice to go back. Needed a break from the constant walking or wanted to chill at your campsite? No worries, you can go back to the event whenever you please.

There are reasons most festivals don’t grant re-entry, due to the possibility of more people sneaking in with an already used ticket. To prevent this issue, however, Okeechobee set up extra ticket points in various places throughout the festival. Honestly, it was slightly bothersome to constantly swipe your pass, mainly because lines and overcrowding would inevitably happen. Although the reason for them is fair, it was slightly irritating, especially if you had a bag. Yes, with every ticket checkpoint came a bag check, even if you had already entered the festival more times than you can count. Although completely logical, it is still something worth pointing out.

Final Thoughts

Okeechobee Music + Arts Festival is worth attending at least once in your life. However, the experience really derives from the environment and the activities held, not just the music and the artists. If you are looking to attend this event and expect all your favorite dance artists to perform, then this is not the festival for you. However, if you are looking to expand your music taste outside of the EDM realm, all while participating in some fun outdoor activities, then this is certainly a must-attend.

Overall, this year’s Okeechobee was certainly one to remember. With Insomniac still along for the ride, fans are sure to get an even better dose of good times and great memories during next year’s edition.

Okeechobee Announces 2022 Lineup

Now that’s what I call a FAT lineup. Sick headliners, amazing B2Bs, tons of genres. Okeechobee made sure their lineup was one that will generate a massive reaction from the people and will guarantee a big number of attendants. Like any other festival in the world, Okeechobee knows you need some EDM if you want to call yourself a real festival. Some of the most relevant EDM artists in the lineup are:

• REZZ
• Porter Robinson
• GRIZ
• Troyboi
• Jai Wolf
• Caribou
• Four Tet
• Elderbrook
• Dombresky
• 1788-L
• VNNSA

A super-stacked lineup in our opinion. Okeechobee definitely made the right choice. Waiting for one year and then coming back with this lineup is certainly a big move. We can guarantee they’ll be a huge attendance, at least on the EDM side. Whether you like house, bass music, synth-pop, or anything else, there’s definitely something for you. While the wait until March 22 may seem like a long one, it’s definitely worth it.

What do you think about this new Okeechobee lineup? Is it fire? Do you hate it? Are you planning to attend Okeechobeee 2022 edition? Let us know in the comments!

The multi-genre music festival will reunite its community together once again. Fans will be immersed in art and food, all while camping at the exciting event.

Insomniac Founder Pasquale Rotella is optimistic about the return of OMF. In a press release, he states.

“After this long year, I couldn’t be more excited to return to Sunshine Grove and be back in nature with all my Okeechobee friends and fam. This festival is all about music, camping out, and making s’mores while dancing in a jungle, grass fields, and on a beautiful beach. It was the last festival I attended before the pandemic hit so I can’t wait to be back!”

The festival powerhouse has been in partnership with the music festival since 2019. OMF 2020 was one of the last events Insomniac held just before COVID-19 made its way to the U.S.

Passes for the Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival return in 2022 will go on sale Thursday, June 3. GA, VIP tickets, and camping packages will be available for purchase.

Stay tuned for more announcements on the Florida festival’s return.

Firstly, A Word From The Founder

“I want to send some love to those who have joined me on this crazy journey over the past year & give you some Insomniac updates.

First, I want to thank those who showed support through the EDC date change while the team & I worked to address everyone’s concerns. You give me the strength to keep moving forward. It’s a privilege to be able to do what I do & I appreciate every moment.

Our goal this past year has been to continue to bring happiness during uncertain times. Even when a path doesn’t exist, it has reaffirmed the importance of creating new lanes, never giving up & living our lives in a positive state of mind no matter what. THANK YOU to the 250,000 of you who ventured through Electric Mile, the 85,000 who attended more than 70 of our Park ‘N Rave drive-ins & the millions who tuned in to our rave-a-thons & InsomniacTV. Also, thanks to the extraordinary group of humans whose desire to serve & create for you all made these events possible, from the artists to the build crews to the Insomniac team. This is a moment in time that won’t be forgotten.”

Pasquale Rotella

What’s next is HARD Summer, the return of large festivals and just in time for summer. Following that is Beyond Wonderland SoCal, which moved a few times but is set for August. Next is Escape in October, Day Trip, Beyond Wonderland Gorge, EDC Las Vegas, Dreamstate, and Audiotistic Bay Area. We’ll stay tuned for the lineups as the team works hard at curating them. Countdown is still on as well as the return of Okeechobee next year. What’s more, are upcoming shows in Vegas, SoCal, and Arizona. Hmm, what might those be we wonder?

Beyond Wonderland’s Lineup

By the way BW SoCal just dropped their lineup today and returns with a hefty roster. Join Alison Wonderland, Dillon Francis, Diplo, Laidback Luke, and more for all things house. The weekend wouldn’t be complete without a Dreamstate stage that includes Genix, Craig Connelly, Jerome Isma-Ae, Jason Ross, Andrew Bayer, and more. We expect an Anjunabeats themed night for the trance fam. Meanwhile, relish in the techno spirit with Nicole Moudaber, and all the Factory 93 experience.

The uncertainty of COVID-19 still lingers each day, week, and month. With that being said, Insomniac still has backup dates in the event of another deferment. In addition, refunds and transfers will also be offered. Looping back to his AMA, Rotella encourages to consider these uncertainties and plan travel and accommodations accordingly.

Last night, Insomniac announced on social media the start of Insomniac Rewind. Beginning today at 11am PT, everyone will be able to listen to their favorite sets from EDC Las Vegas, EDC Orlando, EDC Mexico, Hard Summer, and Okeechobee Festival dating back to 2015 up until now. The sets will stream 24/7 on Twitch and Youtube up until March 31st, giving us people at home some light in the dark.

Insomniac Rewind is the company’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world right now. Many festivals have postponed or cancelled due to government efforts to limit large gatherings. Furthermore, we are still waiting on word if EDC Las Vegas will still be continuing in May.

Although we can’t experience live music performances in-person, we can at least have a mini-rave in the safety of our own homes. The faster we practice social distancing, the faster we’ll be right back in our favorite music venues. Until then, stay safe fam.

You can stream Insomniac Rewind starting at 11am PT today on Youtube and Twitch here.

Shingles is a painful, blistering skin rash from a reactivation of the chickenpox virus. It can also be particularly risky around the eye. Ouch! The Australian DJ and Producer posted a heartfelt and regretful apology, and fans responded with a wave of concerned and well-wishes.

Subtronics played to a packed out crowd and incorporated Alison Wonderland’s songs in her absence. A glimpse of the closing set created an emotional response from Alison and fans, and it’s not hard to see why.

Earlier in the day, she had shared a Twitter post warning fans of low energy levels and apologizing for being unavailable for photo opportunities. Sadly the situation took a turn for the worst when medical professionals recommended against performing. Alison Wonderland is a known advocate for mental health and was one of the first artists to join in the efforts towards creating awareness to the Australian Bushfire Crisis earlier this year.

We’re wishing the ‘Church’ star the speediest of recoveries! Alison Wonderland’s next show is scheduled for the 20th of March at BUKU Music + Art Project in New Orleans, LA.
